• Change the air filters: Follow the manufacturer’s recommendation for when to replace the filter. Filters up to 2 inches thick should be changed every 1 to 3 months. If your filter is 3 or 4 inches thick, change it every 6 to 9 months. If you have a 5—or 6-inch filter, every 9 to 12 months will suffice. 
• Clean and seal ducts: Leaky ductwork allows warm or cool air to escape. Seal the ducts with duct tape or mastic sealant. Clean your ductwork regularly to reduce allergens and dust, improve air quality, and ensure your system operates efficiently.
